Volvo Engine Mount Question
I bought my Volvo mounts (thanks Roger) and although there is no locating rectangular thing like the original mounts, it allows the engine mount bolt to move in the bracket. Should these be placed dead smack in the middle or leave the nut loose until the cross member is back in place then tightened? Also, should I use nyloc nuts on the top of the mount?

What I do is mark the centers of the top mounts with a paint pen,
This so I can locate and center the top stud ,
then put the washer on then the lockwasher and supplied nut,
NOTE Being cognizant of the lower pin to finger plate locating dowel
I use an airgun to set the top stud nut, this makes it easier to tighten it so it stays in position.
NOTE verify the mount and lower pin line up with the cross member before proceeding
I also put the lower finger plate into a vice and hit the finger a small amount to slightly flatten it this will give a bit more clearance to the upper hat/ finger and aid in putting the finger plate on the lower stud then I use a rubber band to hold it in place while I install it.
For Volvo mounts I find it aids in installing by putting one of the mount assemblies onto the block and then putting in the two thick bolts and leave them loose so the mount can move.
attach the other mount to the cross member and leave the lower nut loose,
then fit the cross member,
this is the easiest way to install .

Take a look at a bracket modification I did here (drilled a hole) that keeps things lined up using the Volvo mounts.
