Default Christmas in June. UNCRACKED pod arrived!

Just arrived! Mint pod to finish off my 79 dash resto!! I am thrilled as I didn't want to go the leather route which is not correct for my 79. This will join the dash I picked up last week. Now, any suggestions to keep it from cracking??

Also get some high quality ceramic tint to block out UV rays and heat. They are just as destructive as anything on these parts.

If original parts....better keep the car garaged, do the windshield with crystalline, put a dashmat, and always use a sunsheild when parked outside.

get a custom pod cover from Rob Budd,
its made from Alcantera,
a few dabs of rubber cement will hold it in place, never a worry about a cracked pod,
and the rubber cement comes off by rubbing with your finger

Treat the dash and pod with aerospace 303 protectant and leave the windows cracked to reduce inside temperatures along with sunshield of course.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Car shouldn't see too much sun as it is garage kept. I do have a sunshade on order and will break out my aerospace 308.

Now I just need to get them installed! Probably the easiest dash I have be removed. For once, it is not over engineered!

its not just sun and heat...extreme cold kills these things. Keep the garage at least in the 40s in winter.

Some of you guys are VERY good at finding these "impossible to find" parts!
I need to step up my game!

Dash looks perfect & it's great to have the right one for your car. I'll also suggest the 3M UV-blocking glass film, along with keeping it covered. I'm doing the same thing with the glass on a Bronco, because my door panels are perfect & took me a year to find... and I don't want to go thru that search again!

Guy, forget it, they are going to crack, so just go ahead and give up. Send them to me and I'll make sure you never have to worry about them cracking ever again....

*sigh* like usual, they look great! Cant wait to see pics of the finished product.

+1 on the 303. That's what I use as well.

So the pod and dash have been installed for about a month and the dash already started to crack. Never seen the sun yet, no heat. I am not surprised really but man these things are fragile

I've got an uncracket black pod too, have been sitting in the furnace room for almost 10 years. Going to wait until is worth it's weight in gold and then selling it.
