$2k for a new or factory-reman automatic is a good price for ANY model car.
It's a screaming deal for something like a 928.

One left as of this evening - if you want it let me know asap.
My price is $2400 for the 89 new RogerBox with LSD.

Awesome price Roger. I was only joking in my email about you selling them for what I paid. I should have known you would beat what I paid. Thanks for passing on the savings.

I can hardly wait to pick mine up tomorrow.

Someone at Bergstrom Porsche in Appleton is going to get an earful tomorrow.

Yesterday the parts guy confirmed the item was in green in his system. He had to call and check. Called me back this morning with the bad news Germany has none, no idea why it says that, no record of one being in stock any time recently.

Then I see Roger's post.....

Unbelievable.

It's a thing of beauty!

I was headed to a family gathering this afternoon after picking up the tranny, so I had my 85 year old mother with me. I tried to get her to trade in her Avalon for this $220k turbo convertible, but she didn't go for it.

Is it odd that I think the original packaging material and labels are as cool as the transmission itself?

Nice score! Similar question. Does anything need to be done to it?

Probably nothing as it is sealed for prolonged storage. In its own box - should be good to go.

I will probably install as is, but will rebuild the torque tube or an earlier tube without the taper down on the shaft that has known problems. Roger made a good point in a PM that opening it up and changing seals or upgraded parts would probably void the 2 year warranty. It also had a layer of plastic over it and a bunch of expanding foam around it in the crate. There's an inventory sticker on the outside of the box that says 1991 on it.

I've got some other stuff to do to the car first, so not sure when I'll actually get to this, but will post progress later. There's something special about the 89 with it's low gears, so I'm really looking forward to driving it again. This was the thrust bearing failure car I bought cheap and put a 60k mile engine in back in 2011. Also installed the 60k mile seats from the same car as the engine, which are like new.

I really don't know why, but it's claimed that 89's are the best year.

My 87 was more reliable than the 89 I now own. I figure the 87 got better care than the 89, by the PO's. I got 3 times as much into the 89 also, and got a long way to go yet.
