Default Aluminum ball joints

My car, 83 ROW, seems to fall into the serial range that originally came with aluminum ball joints. I've only owned it for 6 months and have no service history. Is there a simple test or any visible sign to check if the ball joints are original or steel replacements?

Fairly obvious visual differences, which you can see in these pics.
