Interesting new "feature"
now that I have driven to more.

the "wot" position will rev for a bit and then cut out the engine until you let off the gas slightly.

I can't tell if it's the kickdown switch involved or just flooring it, but it will complete the kickdown before reving a bit and then cutting out completely.

So that feature is not safe. WOT on the highway changing lanes and it cut out. Gotta figure this one out.

That doesn't sound like much fun. Did you burp the heater circuit yet?

And I thought mine was bad only kicking down one gear instead of two. Yeah not safe.

Haven't barely popped the hood since your visit. Temp has been great.

Oh it KICKs down, just the engine power disappears after a certain point but way before redline, and does not recover until I let off the gas.

It has to be something in the kickdown switch and how it is related to the ECU, as when I hit redline with 90% throttle (but not hitting the kickdown) it will rev.

I wonder how I might differentiate between the WOT throttle switch and the kick down. I guess disconnect the kickdown.

That's one way to be certain. On my car I really have to push hard to engage the kickdown. Not sure that is normal, but I can floor it easily against the kickdown then I have to give it a good push from there.

Oh its high effort. Previously on a 5 speed 86.5 that I worked on, I took a spring out of the set on the TB and put a weaker on on the console. Much more modern feeling on the throttle.
