Need help with removing original phone antenna base
Over at Benzworld there's consensus that these type of phone antennas do not have holes drilled through the glass, and instead use some kind of through-the-glass induction. But the method for removing them seems risky - heat and prying. There were also suggestions to use Goof-Off adhesive remover.

I did mine a few weeks ago. Just took a paint scrapper to pry up and the removed adhesive residue with razor blade and goo b gone. Tough part that I haven't done is trying to remove all the cable from rear quarter panel and under hatch panel. I have read those clips are delicate. I cut the head off wire by base and just shoved exposed wire under panel.

Thanks...I've got one of those razor scrapers like the safety inspectors use to remove and replace the stickers. This will be done tomorrow. I will likely do the same with the wire...until I have a bigger reason to remove the interior panels.

There's a very thin foam-core double-face tape used to hold them on. Tilt the hatch up until it's level and support it there. Then spritz brake cleaner carefully around the base. The tape will dissolve. Keep the brake clean off the paint.
