Welcome, Chris. You're in the right place. "...designed to be driven..." for damn sure. If I lived in a climate with less salt and ice I'd be enjoying my shark year round. My shark is the same vintage as yours, though I too see an S4 or--better still--a GTS in my future (however, I can't imagine parting with my 83; I love it and I've invested way too much in it already, financially and otherwise). This is an awesome site with great people--enjoy!!

Hey guys, thanks for such a nice welcome, I enjoyed reading your comments and pointers.

Yes it did take me quite a while to run into this site. I'd seen the other '928 message board' and posted there before, but never been exactly enthralled by it. Not that its bad, but wasnt exactly exciting either. I like reading the stuff going on over here though, lots of contagious enthusiam and wacked out Dr. Frankenstein monster 928 experiments, as well as practical restoration tips.

A few of you commented on the winter driving conditions here. Yes it can really suck and they do salt the roads. But living in the city, I really havent been able to keep two cars at once due to limited parking garage space, so I was faced with the dilema: sell the 928, or drive it through the winter. The car wasnt perfect when I bought it (in spite of only 42k miles on it at the time!) and will never be 'show car' condition, so I just drive it. The (galvanized?) dipped body and aluminium body-panels are pretty weather & salt resistent from the factory. The biggest challenge was perfecting the 'throttle steering' on the snowy roads, because its a given the rear end will be fish-tailing, its just a matter of controlling the power slide :-). My next Porsche will have an easier, less wintery life, I'm sure.

My biggest worry of hanging out with you all over here is that I'll spend even more $$$ on my car!!!

Hi Pierre,

Nice TL man, your bike is very sharp!
I recognize you from the 'planet', aren't you the HammerIt! guy? The products you guys make are very nice, been meaning to get some of your ram-air tubes and a wind-screen....maybe after the holidays

I sometimes post over there as alien-tank. I recall you debating awhile back on what type of racing to do that weekend. I chimed in and said 'Porsche racing, definately' and that i was a big Porsche fan, or something along those lines. I didnt know you had a shark, I guess we really do have good taste!

Don't have any recent TLR pics, these are over a year old...You can see i have the full M4 exhaust system, Goodrich steel braided brake lines, also BMC filter and airbox mods, DynoJet PowerCommander PC2, custom undertail, Bikedesign frame sliders, TRE and a lot of other little miscellaneous things. Since the pictures were taken I have also added Ohlins rear suspension, Attack Performance rear-sets, & some sub-frame mods.
You gotta love these bikes, they sound like Armeggedon has arrived when tuned right!

from front

and rear

And nice shark btw, that thing looks mean! You gotta love TORQUE!
Cheers,
Chris

I'm sure glad I'm not the only 928/motorcycle nut.

Thumbs up

Nice RR bcdavis! That was a revolutionary bike. Looks like you've polished and chromed just about everything possible. I dig the aftermarket wheels (got rid of the small stock front, right?), the bike looks sweet.

And yes Mike L, looks like youre not the only bike and shark nut here, seems we're in good company.

BTW, I know as Hacker-P pointed out, there are some stroked and blown 928's out there that could give us a run for our money, particulary in a high speed roll-on. But its fun to be able to twist the throttle and instantly warp ahead dozens of car lengths on 99.9% of cars youre liable to see on the streets, as if they suddenly decided to drop anchor. Now to be able to do that in a shark, hmmmm, now that sounds like some real fun. Maybe i should start saving up for an s4 and one of those s/c kits....

(note: not that I advocate illegal street racing; there's no substitute for track time )

Nawww, I can respect cruisers (wouldnt mind having one) built by The Motor Company. I owned a Buell X1 Lightning (race-kitted) a few years back and had a lot of fun on that bike...So I'm no stranger to Harley Sportster motors and HD crowds.

The idea was to have the 928 as my daily driver, and the bike as my "toy" to lavish attention and parts on...

But I can't keep my hands off the 928 either...

Grrrrr!
