correct, it was from 1984 onwards that Remote release was fitted, but on my 928S of 1980, I retrofitted one, controlling **** on both sides.
And it works like a charm.

The rear hatch on my 1979 won't click/lock into place.
Is that due to the rounded/worn area of the hook? I look at new hooks and while they are not as "rounded" as mine, they are not a straight edge I would have imagined them to be if the issue is my hook is too worn/rounded(blue arrow in top picture).
I unscrewed and removed the top piece with the hook and tried to press it into the bottom piece and it still wouldn't lock into place.
I then loosened the screws on both the top and bottom pieces and slide them both as far forward and far back, tightened back up the screws, tried every combination. .
Neither piece is broken or cracked.
the spring in both the top and bottom pieces are strong and not stuck.
I'm not concerned about any electric hatch capabilities - happy to have to use a key every time.
I have this same problem on my 1980.
