Door speaker foam surround repair
I don't usually listen to stereo, but the other day on the way home from the Concours, in the rain, I put it on and it didn't sound as I remembered. When I got home, I check the speakers and found the drivers 4" speaker foam surround mostly not there! I had a Springfield Speaker repair kit from when I had fixed the passenger side speaker 4 years ago, so pulled the speaker and did a quick repair. The diy instructions are on their website.
1. Decomposed foam surround
2. Cleanup foam and glue
3. Kit
4. Finished

Outstanding Bob! Well deserved and love hearing about the increased interest. We are surely going to put on a great shark show in July for the unwashed masses, and the rest of the P-crowd.

Rick, I'll volunteer to be a reference on your PCA Concours Judge resume.
I got a hit at the Parade concours in Savannah for having JLs in the doors. Since then, I've re-foamed some originals as above and re-installed them... same Springfield kits.... nice product and easy to do.
I consider re-foaming a preservation measure. As long as the judges see a black or brown paper cone with no center mounted tweeter behind the grill, they'll move on and look for something else, like a non-original luggage cover or the "incorrect" silver PC on the intake.
