So I got them on Order from Roger (Of course with other necessities) Thanks for your inputs. So now I have 7 OEM injectors that may be able to be refurbed incase anyone needs. I also have a set of upper and lower O-rings that I got when I ordered the intake stuff. Guess I call those spares. Little off that topic but I got the intake off last nighrt and found...

Nice home for someone (4 legged)

Was able to get it him to move out.

Once you get the injectors from Roger you need to have them checked to make sure they work. This is how my car caught on fire. The injectors you will get from Roger are rebuilt which is Ok. Depending on when they were rebuilt they can oxidize enough to cause a blockage

He didn't say where they came from, but did say he was getting another batch on Monday and they would ship out early next week. Your suggestions on testing?

I bought new Lucas #19 injectors from FiveOMotorsports (no affiliation) about 10 months ago and are working great for me. I don't see them available anymore on the site except for refurbished and new Bosch 4 hole injectors.

A simple Static test would be to pressurize and then use a 9v or a 12v source to open the Injector, just click it on and off until the pressure goes down.
Do not hold voltage on the Injector (especially using 12v) it could over heat the winding's.

A working injector will make a clicking noise when bench tested. I've done this with a 9V battery but didn't bother putting any pressure or vacuum on it.

no need for pressure when testing,
and its good idea to use a 9 volt battery,
The cleaning solution can cause the injector to get stuck,
so a little bit of persuasion is needed to verify that the injector will work.

All you need to have when testing is to hear the injector click when power is applied,
do this 5 times or so for each injector ,
then use DC111 on the O rings,
fit them to the fuel rail first,
then put the slide on clips on,
then tug the injector till you hear the clips snap into place if not already seated.

I *always* remind witchhunter - writing on the order form - that the lower o-rings are 928-specific. Never had an issue with that.

I have eight of the Porsche rebuild kits on hand. They have black o-rings. We shall see...

Check the injectors click when activated with a 9v battery as soon as you receive them. While energising them, squirt some WD40 into the tops to help keep corrosion at bay.

I understand that the last cleaning operation on refurbed injectors is water based..... I was told by one supplier that they should be fitted and used within two weeks.

When I had everything back together after an intake refresh with injectors serviced by Witch Hunter, I did this:

Pushed car out of garage.
Put wife inside, door open.
Hood was still off - everything easily visible.
Familiarized myself with a good-sized halon extinguisher.
Told wife to start it up.
Subdued emotions (it's alive!) and kept close watch.

It only took one conversation with Fraggle to persuade me that great caution would be wise.

A safer and more-diagnostic procedure is to bypass the fuel pump relay to activate the fuel pump and force fuel through the system at pressure with the engine NOT running.

This should done for leak checking every time the fuel system is opened whether it's the filter or an injector.

I started disassembling the intake and found what I think is a lot of raw gas in the intake distributor. The runners were not clean and had a thick build up of black gook which I think was gas build up. The throttle valve housing was very clean. Was this from the injectors?

Not all the runners looked like this. This was the worst.

Dave, The procedure that you describe seems like the right approach. How does one go about that the correct way?

Jumper the relay. Connect pin 30 to 87.

A 'bypass wire' is a common piece of 928 equipment. Many of us carry them in the glove box, right next to the spare fuses & relays.

A fused one is recommended. The better ones have a simple toggle switch.
