What does this part do?
Hello folks,
I'am putting some new transmisson (4spd auto) oilcooler lines to my -86 928S ROW and in the return line in trans end connection there is part no. N 025 657 1 "ball", what is the meaning of this ball?
Just beeing courious

That ball is a check ball in the factory fill port for filling the transmission casing with automatic transmission fluid. The ball fits in the nipple, and all is covered by a thread on cap and aluminum crush washer.
Also an excellent place to refill the transmission after doing a fluid change.
Note the downward facing cap at the return line connection on the transmission casing.

Refilling my transmission through the nipple and check ball.

Thanks, Hoi!
I had it all planned out. I had a gallon jug of ATF and a nifty little drill powered pump. It was going to go so smoothly.
It did not. The pump did not. The pump got flung into the nearby woods, with a stream of curse words to send it on its way.
I fell back to what worked. A bottle pump. A hand bottle pump. It worked. But it took awhile to pump 13 quarts of ATF. Twice.
Hand bottle pump. Effective, but SLOW.
