Nice tight Joints tony.
A question... Where do you put your....stuff? Like your little bits and bobs, and that box of bolts from that project.
I mean, sure your car is currently in one piece, but your garage is so uncluttered.

Tell us more about that discount Tony. Do I need to go to SEMA next year to get the 2.50 price?

As far as the discount, Im not sure. I just called the lady and told her i was at the SEMA show and saw their booth and would like to install the tile in my home garage and that the guy manning the booth quoted me a price of $2.50 a sqft.
You probably could use the same line... dunno? LOL
As far as all the bits and peices...they are all behind the camera on the other side of the garage. (you can see the stand in the 1st pic i think?)I try to keep the cars parked on one side and all the "stuff" on the other and do my work in one area. I HATE having crap all over the place..chasing stuff down when trying to do a job..walking around the cars etc to get a tool or a beer... haha. I have some standing shelves and a cabinet to put over by the car yet so it isnt going to be all that "un-cluttered" All my parts are in big tupperware containers that i can store up on the shelves i built. Garages in todays homes arent that big and not that well lit and you have to make do with the sq footage your given. Ive built storage shelves above the cars and installed more lighting. A "Whole House fan" and ceiling fans are next as well as a portable Swamp cooler. I may rig it up beind the garage and run the ducting through the wall....gotta keep the temp down when its 100F+ outside in the summer! I often see temps in my garage of 105+ in the summer afternoons! Got music and the cold beer in the fridge though!
As far as the surface being rough on the knees?? not at all..the rasied pattern isnt that extreme. Heck my kids were jumping and rolling on it. Minor issue.
Besides..whos spends that much time on there knees crawling around in the garage!
Yeah i was very impressed with the tight fit. When i get back home (sitting on call today in SLC..again) i will slide a feeler gauge in a few of the joints. Honestly you would be hard pressed to slide paper in there i think! Actually, the fit is so tight that if you install on a cool day like i did that your recomended to leave appx 1/2 inch around the perimeter of yor garage for expansion!
I envy Jay and Dr Bob being able to build a garage to the specs...i cant wait to be able to do that. But for now im happy and doing well with what i have.
As i said, time and EVERYDAY use will tell. My garage IS NOT a show room. I do a lot of "stuff" in there, its your typical everday house garage. When im on a project, i do spend some time in there so i wanted it clean, bright and looking the way i want. Its a guy thing i told my wife..."you have the house to paint and do as you wish...this, is my little corner of the world"

Trim?
I guees you may mean the small edging pieces?
They run along the tiles where the garage doors sit. They allow for a sloped transition up to the tile from the ground.
You may mean trim as in "trimming the tiles"?? In that case i havent done any yet. I keep getting called in to work to sit on call. There are some spots that i will trim the tile to fit in tight places..on the grounf by the garage door rails...near the water heater. They trim with a circular saw or jigsaw.

Finished trimming the tiles the other day...Jigsaw with a fine blade went through it like butter.
This is what water does on the tile...
Typical corner i had to deal with...no problem
Like a dog on fresh carpet, the car had to mark its new territory!
I just wish my carpet would clean up as easily. That oils was there for a couple of days. It just wiped clean..no stains left behind. Same thing with some tranny fluid as well.

Great, il take some pics later. Its got oil and tranny fluid on it under the 928 right now. Got those annoying little drips. I just take the time now and then to wipe it up.
The only issue i have at this point is the expansion of the plastic tile in the direct sun of the afternoon if i have the door up. I put down the floor in the relatively cool month of Nov. Now that its getting hot, the tiles expand and actually buckle in some spots. Very minor IMHO. I attribute this to the fact that i have work benchs, a fridge, an engine stand etc etc that wont allow the tile to move underneath it. One of these days im just going to move all my stuff into the drive way for a couple of hours in the afternnon and allow the floor to properly settle and reach equilibrium in the heat.
Other than that, i love it. I have one of those Hoover FloorMates that i use to clean it now and then. It has the cleaner res. and injects the solution onto the rotating scrub brushes, then vacs up the water to a collection tank. the water is BLACK as the ace of spades when i clean the heavy traffic area along the tire path. Our tile foor in the house is now much easier to keep clean due to the lack of conrete dust being pulled in.
