Y-Pipe Fabrication

Y-Pipe Fabrication
I'm in the middle of doing some exhaust work, replacing the headers and putting a Borla Cat-Back at the rear.
I had to remove my prior exhaust system in a destructive manner (don't ask), and am now in a position where I have headers & the Borla, but no Y-Pipe to connect the two.
I'll need to get the car to a shop to get the Y-Pipe fabrication (unless someone knows a way to avoid this), and am not sure the best way to do it.
I see three options:
1. Drive it without the muffler connected and really **** off everyone I drive around.
2. Rig up a temp Y-Pipe to at least get me to the shop. Haven't thought much about how to do that.
3. Have it towed to the shop.
Any opinion on which might be best? Or if there is something I'm not considering?

Option 1
Keep it simple, who cares if you **** them off. It's temporary on your way to getting it fixed.

All I have for you Ry-Guy, is what Hacker said, you are on the way to the shop to get it fixed -- what are they going to say? Besides, play the Porsche card, always good for some special treatment brother.
As option four, you can purchase a bolt on unit, still available from a couple of vendors I believe. Or wait for one to surface used.

Well, Option 1 it is.
I'm remembering back to when the muffler on my 4 cylinder Ford Probe dropped while driving and how loud it sounded. I can only imagine what it's going to be like with the 928.

I agree the sound would be great but a word of caution. Anything the exhaust from the open headers blows on will melt. Wiring, undercoating, starter, slave cylinder, etc. Make sure that everything is clear.

Would I be served to fabricate something (no clue what yet) that would deflect the exhaust output from the 2 headers downward towards the road, e.g. keeping it from blowing directly backward?

I think if you have pieces from what you removed to make a turn down then everything would be safe. I am not sure where exhaust dumps on your 82 but on my 88 there is a bunch of stuff close by.

The only real thing I have near where the headers terminate are the O2 and AFR sensors, and I'll tuck those far out of the way.
But I'd prefer to not decimate the paint / coating of the stuff behind, so Polish fabrication will be what I'll do.
Thanks for the input!

Seriously, I saw some flex-tube type stuff at Advance Auto Parts today, kinda corrugated, looks like it would be super easy to use. And cheap too. Hilariously it actually looks like a mini-version of the famous Scheisco part lol

I've tried for better safe than sorry after I drove my old Caddy around with no exhaust and melted the insulation off the hot wire to the starter. It was pure luck that it didn't short to the chassis.

All the big stuff is buckled up, a few small cosmetic things left to do, new battery in the car (Walmart Maxx) and decided to try starting it up without muffler.
Cranked by didn't start. Decided not to press much luck, so decided to call it a day.
Will try again tomorrow, but Steve - might be looking to take you up on the trailer offer....
***EDIT***
And just realized that my FP Relay isn't plugged in. I suppose that might have something to do with a non-start
