Camp 928 will be held June 16-18, 2017 in the Adirondack Mountains of New York! We're roughly equidistant from Buffalo, Montreal, Boston and NYC.
UPDATE: It happened! It will happen again in 2018.
The format will be similar to other 928 gatherings I've attended, modified to suit the location, plus some ideas I have. There's no big hotel up here, but there are other choices, plus simply camping out on the grounds of my "compound", or otherwise crashing in the studio building or elsewhere. I have three good tents and some cots available - you'll be comfortable. The designated motel is the Pine Tree, featuring classic roadside cabins, just down the road [UPDATE: all booked up - see alternatives from link on website]. The main center of activity will be at my place until the Saturday afternoon, when we all gather in front of the Chester Town Hall.
Family friendly - check out the lakeside rental properties - they're called "camps" in the Adirondacks, whether small or palatial. We're dog friendly on our grounds, and so is the Pine Tree.
My plan is to provide a polo shirt, a poster*, a pass for Prospect Mountain, Friday BBQ items, and breakfast items. I'll make sure there is a flatbed on call - we are a little remote.
* the poster: My artistic wife has volunteered to do something artsy, using someone's photo as the model. Submit your photos here! But note that she's going to favor red or some color, not black, not my own car. [Update: the poster has been drafted.]
Ditto, looks fantastic Curt. My wife's plans for June may be changing, if that is the case we may be able to come. (fingers crossed)
Interesting that you mention my method for building the list. I'm actually going to change to an on-line registration page just like this one for the Rennlist Canada Spring Fun Run. http://928autohaus.ca/spring-fun-run/ I have found that having an email list helps with any final communication leading up to an event, sometimes people are to busy to check back on rennlist. I then update the thread with a simple total so peeps can see the numbers attending.
J/K, but will there be a tech session? I would say, for these cars any kind of tech session with an expert like Merlin, or another east coast guru would be a fine addition.
For anyone who has not been to upstate NY, and you are thinking it's like the city - you are gravely mistaken. From the finger lakes in the west, to upper lake Champlian, NY state is a remarkable and wonderful wilderness area. For those wanting to really appreciate it in nature, get a permit to hike Keene valley to Mt Marcy. You'll think you are in Montana or western Canada.
OBTW, if Cruise is coming - I"m out. (not kidding). Enjoy!
The last time I was up in your neck of the woods it was with my two pre-teen sons, and an 18' kevlar freighter with three bent shaft paddles for propulsion. This time, more propulsion (I hope!), and my dog. How things change... I'm planning on making it!
Adam: it sure would be great if you and your family can come. Marshmallows will be toasted. Children will be put to work. I'll be interested in your registration system. I was hoping (but also fearing) that I'd use the PCA's system, but no.
Sean: we won't have a quorum without someone from the 928 District (aka, Texas). You'd check the box for a guru, too. I'll provide the cigars.
Docmirror: just got word: Cruise is not coming. Thanks for the video. Yikes.
You're on, Martin. I have a good choice of canoes available for you, including a 15-lb kevlar solo.
26 hours door-to-door. I might just toss an S4 engine in my GT and do it. I can stop halfway at my sis house and break up the drive. Mebee Sean or Rog will keep me company. I drove a 85 rolling wreck from Marthas vineyard last fall and didn't perish.

I'm in for the cigars, but forget the boat- that was 40 years ago! (Blue Mtn Lake to Raquette- portages, fly fishing, bears and all.)
Yes, I will. My next door neighbor had a 59 Bugeye at the same time we had the big Healey. He never ran it, but stored it in our building in Cooperstown next to our Healey. Red with offset white bonnet stripes, no bumpers. No idea what ever happened to it..
Curt,
I've requested time off in June for my son's high school graduation. If I have any of the days free I'll cruise over as I'm in Watertown now.
