LOL, never wrong. Yeah. Ask my wife.

All the following is me just parroting numbers out of an extract of the PET database and of the Exclusive program literature , I've never seen one of these cars, so take with large grains of salt.

Four are 5-speeds, 3 German market and 1 C99 special market

The other 62 are automatics, 61 German market and 1 U.S. market

Yes sometimes I post incorrect information just to see who is awake Sadly it looks like the Rogerboxes got the bulk of this rare option of real flared from fenders.
And had my misinformation not been refuted no doubt the earth would have stopped spinning....

Default Thanks and Huh?

To the guys here who took the time to answer me, it was very helpful and I thank you.

To worf928 I can only say "huh?" My OP was asking a question, not providing any information, let alone contradictory information.

Those X38 fenders combined with Louis Ott's rear quarter flares would sure make a nice stance on a 928 with wider wheels.

Interesting. I wonder why the X38 fenders are steel, and galvanised to boot? I guess we'll never know, but I assume it has to do with final rigidity and easier to fabricate a bespoke part out of steel. Perhaps they pressed them to standard profile in steel, and then cut and shut to extend them?? You'd expect if there was a purpose made stamping die (unlikely for a small run) that they just would have made them in aluminum.

If you search for "X38", you will find a number of threads about these wider front fenders.

The oldest is from 2003, started by... well, you can see here:

Thats true.

Anyway, sorry just got a bit carried away by the annoyment of reading too much "fake news" online, I guess I am a bit of a nitpicker.

My use of the term 'contradictory' was poor. Your question turned out to be slightly ambiguous in the context of folks that didn't know/remember that there were two flared fender options. You did nothing wrong or unreasonable. You got an overly-imformative answer that was offensive, it seems, to some.

If you had, in your question added "I'm not asking about the mostly-Japanese glue-on fender flares" then the other posters would have known that any post on that topic would have been found to be repugnant and unwanted.

However that's not really reasonable to expect, even assuming you knew all about the other flare option.

It's about as reasonable an expectation as is expecting folks from refraining on posts about the not-X38 fender option even if you had specified 'not the Japanese one.'

It's also possible, not necessarily highly probable, that you were asking about the mostly-it-seems Japanese option and were mis-informed about the option.

All bases were covered. This is good.

Interesting information:

Now I can add another obscure 928 to my list of cars to search for.

As an aside, what are the part numbers for the wider galvanized fenders and the part numbers for those 8" wheels?

Of course by asking if they are available, somebody else is going to grab them... DUH!

I've always considered doing something wild to my Outlaw GT and some factory wide front fenders coupled with GTS quarters would punch the ticket. Nice stroker by GB or Carl?

Hmmmmmmm...

Lets see if a set surfaces? This could be fun...

I'm thinking the 8" cup 2 wheels would have to be part no. 993-362-126-01.

There is a X38 optioned 1994 GTS up for sale on BAT right now (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...he-928-gts-33/) that will help address the question on which wheels. The part number on this car for the front wheels are 965.362.126.00 8" wide with an offset of ET52. (Also note Porsche offers the cup 2 in the same dimensions in this part number as well 965.362.126.01). The tire is same size as for the 7" and 7.5" wide wheels. It's curious that Porsche used a ET52 offset in this case of an 8" wheel, where as with the CS wheel with an 8" width Porsche used a ET60 offset. Clearly Porsche was not as obsessed with maintaining the offset as some of us are here on rennlist.

That is an exceptional car. It is Todd's offering (Lowmiler to the old guys here). This car should do very well.
