Does any one know if the barrel connectors for the ABS & brake pad sensors come apart, if they do at all? Asking here before I destroy one myself.
These are the white barrels that the sensors plug into at all 4 wheels, and of course in the spare tire well, and at the front fenders.
Since these things are NLA, figured I'd make my own only better, and reuse the barrel connectors if it's possible.
Thanks

Been inspecting mine over the last few days and they are in various stages of disintegration. Within the barrel there seems to be a weather proof plug in connection. This I could see from one of the units that was in a state of partial collapse. Does not impact me as I do not see wet weather but if I did get caught out in a down pour I have a feeling I might grind to a halt if not with these connectors then elsewhere but I am studying and will hopefully work this problem in due course.
The brake pad sensors and RDK system I do not bother with but the ABS sensors are critical and I do not know what it takes to stop them from functioning- hopefully if the system fails there will be a dash based alarm.
If you come up with a suitable revamp for these do keep us informed. I assume that type of signal is screened and if so that may well impact what will [or will not] work.

The white barrel connectors are made onto each end of the wheel harness and aren't designed to separate from the harness. The individual wheel harnesses are still available AFAIK. The part that isn't are the small individual plugs on the main harness that plug into the white barrel. Each of these plugs is "keyed" differently by the shape of the end of the plug such that they only fit in one of the sockets in the white barrel. I suspect (but haven't verified) that the plug shapes are the same on either end of the harness such that one could harvest the male plug from a brake pad sensor to replace the plug for the brake pad sensor on the main harness. The pad wear sensors are cheap enough that I'd sacrifice a couple to make this repair but the ABS and RDK sensors are pretty spendy.
