Default Engine bay cross bar

is there any need to make this component stiffer? I started a project, but before I use more of my time I'd thought I'd ask.
I used to ride Moto's with a Baja 1000 winner. When I bought his factory Honda he told me Not to replace the plastic skid plate with a aluminum one. He stated the frame is designed to flex and the plate negates it.
Is it the same for the 928?

Stiffer is better in our case. I don't know if a stiffer brace there is required for driving, but I've seen a lot of slightly bent stock braces. I don't know what bent them, but I didn't want mine to do that, so I have the 928Motorsports brace, and I've very happy with it, although it does look a bit too nice in my engine bay lol...

I took a close look at my slightly bent cross brace, and wondered why there was a small crease, an inch or so long, in the center of the brace that ran along the brace, while usually when you bend a tube the kink is on the tube's cross section. Then I noticed that the crease fit the edge of the oil filler cap perfectly. Lifting the engine to replace motor mounts or do the oil pan gasket likely accounted for it. Might be fairly common.

FYI, 928 Motorsports sells such a unit similar to what you are designing:

Those are really nice! I've got $12 in materials, an endmill, a tig welder, and more time than brains.
So, the brace IS useful?
