Default 78 R.o.W. Continental Orange 5 speed

Another Continental Orange car has surfaced, VIN 9288101222. (around january 1978 I think) I recently found this one covered in dust sitting in the back room of a large old car shop. Not running, and reported as "sitting back there for years" Last registration is 2009. Despite my logical side saying I have enough of these, it followed me home yesterday.

Porsche indicated to me it was delivered with brown carpets, brown vinyl, and black/beige pasha. This is a bit strange because the only pasha offered "standard" with brown vinyl was code 02 black/brown pasha. So either the COA people made a mistake, or the interior was special ordered.

immediately obvious minuses are:
It's been painted red.
Dashboard and pod has many cracks
Radio missing (but trim not cut!)
Has the wrong seats (brown leather with tweed)
The strong smell of fuel turned to spar varnish

immediately obvious plusses are:
It is/was continental orange car with pasha
no holes in the body for parking lights, rear bumper-ettes, spoilers, or side moldings.
straight, and solid
original nice exhaust
nice un-cut console trim
pretty nice interior panels other than dash
tools, jack, correct spare, and wood spare cover intact.
aside from paint job and seats, substantially un-molested.

More pics after a serious cleaning effort

Well, that makes #5 Continental Orange that are known to me so far, and what's interesting is that all but 2 seem to have different interiors. My car, '78 Euro #498 is Black/Blue Pasha; Rennlister ruiesteves car in Capetown, South Africa - '78 Euro #873, and a NC car (not sure VIN or where this car currently is - Jim Doerr might know) both have Black Leather; Kai Spoddeck has Swiss delivered '78 Euro #1090 with black/white Pasha (still in Switzerland) - he contacted me after the 'Vand collection' video by Carl; and now Andrew with Brown, #1222 with Black/Beige Pasha. Very cool.

Great find! - MORE PICS PLEASE!

Neat car, Andrew. Great resto candidate for someone!

Alex, add to your list Dean W. from Cali with '78 #0559 US Conti Orange w/brown vinyl-black/brown pasha

And Otto from Germany with '78 #0039 RoW Conti Orange (however with a color change and Strosek body kit)

Nice. One of my fave colors.

But - we gotta know, how much?

Was it a barn find or not.

The #559 could be what I'm thinking is the NC car...Jim showed me pics of a CO car many moons ago, I thought it was black leather and in NC, but it was a US car...Jim - is there another CO car you know of or is Dean's the same car?

Andrew, the Germany car is known to have a pasha interior, but don't know what color. (also known to have a very early automatic trans and sunroof. Was first delivered to Ferry Porsche too!)

Alex, I'm not sure if they're the same and I have no record of one from NC.

Great find Droo and look forward to seeing her next time up your way. Be glad that Porsche indicated the interior as black/beige pascha rather than the black/brown fabric is NLA. Alex suggested I call Porsche to correct mistakes on Mokka's COA. Porsche edited the replacement COA to now read "Cork" not "Beige" for interior color, and edited in the MSRP from the original window sticker. T

In the thread re: the Germany car:

"More details:
VIN: 9288100039
Motor-Type: M28/02
Motor-Nr. :8189022
Transmission-Type: A22/01
Transmission-Nr.: 1680005
Interior: brown pasha
Exterior: continental-orange
Date of first registration: 04.06.1977"

The NC/California car the only orange car you ever showed me so likely the same car...my brain is soft on the details..I remember it being a faded US car.

Looks like 6 known cars for now..

9288100039 unknown pasha - Germany
9288100498 black/blue pasha - New York
9288100873 black leather - South Africa
9288101090 black white pasha - Switzerland
9288101222 black/beige pasha - Connecticut
9288200559 black/brown pasha - California

Jim says my production #1441 makes it a December of 1977 build. It also made a stop in Brussels at some point in life. Lots of cool details, original windshield, correct gas cap, steel belly pan, plenty of orange paint if you dig a little.

Stellar. My dad is from outside Brussels. Would love that car to be able to tell its stories.
