I'm Dean W., and I have #559 here in California. it's a U.S. Continental Orange, 5 spd. The COA that I got back was incorrect. It had the correct interior code number (73), but was incorrectly labeled "brown leather". So I thought it might have been dyed at some point, but it hasn't. It is, in fact, black leather w/ black leather inserts.

Cheez, why do people go and change a perfectly nice color to red? As if we don't have enough red, black, sliver and white cars in the world.

I attribute this mostly to the very narrow sensitivity of male hormones. What else could it be?

Good luck with that one. I kind of like it, but it's goona take some BST = blood, sweat and tears.

John

PS: I buy used and based on condition. This explains the large number of red, black and silver/grey cars I have. :-(((

Those photos just ooze patina, beautiful photography! I love it. Good thing it's 3000 miles away or I'd be tempted to attack that one. I know just what it needs.

Is that overspray on the hood cable vice grips?

I didn't notice that, and those are my vice-grips with my orange overspray from a past project.

It's good to see that yellow where the paint has rubbed through, on your car too. I had wondered if mine had been re-sprayed, but maybe they used a yellow primer on the orange cars??

You should think... Narrow sensitivity of female hormones, "red was brewed for cool things" they love it😎😎😎

No offence Nicole

Going from memory; the colors of blue, green, any shade of brown, beige, gray, yellow, etc. were considered "sale proof" for a good 15 year period mid 80's to about the turn of the century. Red, Black, Silver, and White were "proper" Porsche colors that had a wide audience and were much easier to sell. I did it myself in the early 90s by changing a perfectly good charcoal gray 5-speed to red. This orange car got sun burnt the dash and carpets tell the story, when it was time to paint it is no surprise that a color change to red occurred.

This has been going on for decades, there are a lot more red Ferraris and Porsches driving around than were ever built. Right now in my 928 collection I have a red car changed to purple, a copper changed to red, a copper changed to bronze, and an orange changed to red. Thankfully only two are in line for "correction"

A few hours of sweat was all it took to get this car driving. A dead battery, spoiled fuel, a locked up fuel pump, and sticky fuel distributor plunger were the only things getting in the way of it starting. A popped front shifter ball cup (probably what parked it to begin with) was addressed and off we went for a test drive.

I think I was the first guy into the fuel system, fuel pipes and clips are perfect. I'm looking forward to cleaning the undercarriage, I think the whole bottom of the chassis is yellow primer.
