Dye removal
My brown leather door panels are sprayed black. I think this stuff is "dye" 'cuz it seems to have done a good job on the doors' carpet. This stuff is flaking off in places and a thumbnail will take it off. I see ads for products that will dye vinyl seats. As vinyl isn't going to absorb dye in the conventional sense i figure its probably about what I have on the doors.
I want this stuff gone!
Does any one have a good way to remove this stuff?
Leatherique cleaner and their conditioner didn't help (I saw an old post where dye removal was an unwanted side effect).
Kerosene and elbow grease works but cant be good for the leather!

John, try Ernest's suggestion first before this one. And if you do use this product Be Careful
I have used it a few times to remove things from leather. It's called Goof-Off paint remover. And remember to dispose of the rags in a proper manner. Like, don't just stick them in the trash in the garage or house. They are combustable.

I've had three lots of dye from Leatherique, none of which matched my seats. After I applied the first batch the owner of Leatherique told me about isopropyl alcohol. It works, but you have to be patient. It only takes the dye off when you first apply it. You'll see what I mean.
Thanks Guys.
Earnest The alcohol didn't work. I bet this dye is from Wal-mart or someplace... Thanks for the help tho'
Chucker - I tried Goof Off right after kerosene (boy, that kerosene sure looks like a bad idea when you write it down){that's because it is John}.
Goof Off thins the "dye" well but tends to evaporate as you try to wipe it up.
Result; same amount of dye moved around. It does work well for 'spot 'cleaning though.
Still looking for a resonable solution... John
