Gauge Cluster Circuit Foil Issues - Repair or overhaul?
I found after reinstalling my dash & pod in late last year that my speedo and a couple of other gauges (don't recall which) weren't working. I assumed I hadn't fully plugged in the connectors on it and that I would tackle it in the winter months.
Well....got it off last night, and I think I may have found the issue. Part of the circuit foil has peeled:
I've started to do some reading, and I've found some threads that suggest repairing the circuits with a trace pen or other methods. I'm pretty comfortable working with electrical stuff, but I'm reticent to go through a solution that may not fix the issue, thereby requiring a series of trial-and-error installs.
Also - one of the 3 connectors to the pod is getting pretty shady. Wires are pulled out of pins a bit, and that seems like another problem waiting to happen.
As a result, I was considering the fix posted here - hardwiring everything, thereby removing the need for the foil. Seems like the hardest parts would be ensuring the that wires all terminate in the right places, and that I pin out the connectors properly.
Outside of Jim, anyone else go this road with good results?
Thanks for the input!

Excellent to hear and long overdue. Manufacturing of these is not terribly difficult overseas and I dare say that I was tempted to take on this project myself. I have some Trans am circuits made many years ago. Made my day and I look forward to seeing the results!

You can always buy a replacement if you aren't successful.
