Cranberry Car Wash
800 Commerce Park Dr, Cranberry Twp, PA 16066
And the one Otto just posted about. (I didn't know about that one)
Just throwing this out to whoever is coming in from out of town. I only live about 20 mins. from Cranberry. On Friday the 14th, between setting up the parking at Schenley Park in the morning, to the Double Wide Grill party at 5:00, I'm pretty sure I'll be home from about 11:00am to around 4:30pm. I'm not going on the Glacier Tour Rally.
If anyone thinks they will be in Cranberry, PA by then, doing nothing around that time and wants to wash off their car at my house, I'll be happy to have you stop. We can wash and have some beers.
I wish I had more time to give, but I'll be running around too much that day.
PM me if you think you want to stop and I'll give you my address.

Ed, Rick, and all you guys who are going to be visitors to Pittsburgh for the 40th year celebration at PVGP,
It is with great regret that neither Jim Heisick nor I will be able to attend this great event. We were both very much looking forward to a great weekend of catching up with all of you and your lives again, but the plans have changed.
Fifteen days ago I had emergency brain surgery for a subdural hematoma. It seems this pint and a half of blood I was carrying around in my skull was rapidly pushing the brain into the right side of my skull, which meant I had essentially no communication with the left side of my body. I had gone from feeling great to having NO strength or stamina and very little ability to do anything over a period of about 1 week. The MRI and CAT scan indicated this hematoma was what needed to be corrected!!!
Great surgeon removed a top section of the skull, sucked out most of the excess blood, drilled a hole in the section and re-installed it with about 40 staples and a drain tube to get about half of the remaining blood to exit into a small vacuum bag (I was informed that the body absorbs any remaining) over the next 5 days. After a week in ICU at the hospital - with phenomenal care - the drain tube was removed. I then had four days of Rehab at a local facility then discharged and am now home. Still limited in quite a few things (can lift up to 10 lbs!), and no driving is one of them. So, I had to cancel my registration with our neighborly MB group for the PVGP event.
As further information - these hematomas usually occur from a fall or a severe blow to the head. I have not fallen in over 10 years, and the last hard fall was over 25 years ago when skiing in CO. Even though the symptoms had developed over about a weeks period of time, the surgeon said the blood looked like it was about 2-3 months old. I have no memory of striking my head hard in the 1st Qtr of '17. The symptoms I was experiencing are all those that usually relate to Parkinson's disease. So, knowing that going into the MRI tube, I'm one of the few people who was happy to have brain surgery!!! Prognosis for essentially full recovery is excellent in this case.
So, the bottom line on this is: it's OK to carry a spare quart of oil in your car, but DO NOT try to carry 24 oz of spare blood in your skull!!!!
Hope everyone has a great time at the 40th, and I'm planning on being there for the 41st.
Cheers to all,
Gary

Now about that spare 24 oz of blood in your skull. Couldn't you just use that like a reserve tank?

Wow Gary - so glad you are okay my friend! What an ordeal, but thank God for the outcome. We will miss you, and we'll look forward to seeing you down the road. As Rick said, we'll tip a few back for you!

First, very happy to see that your ok now and getting better.
The most important thing right now is take good care of you my friend.
Take all the time you need, rest well and hope to see you at Frenzy maybe.
If not there, at some other event in the future.

I don't want to take anything away from Gary's news.
I do want to remind everyone that is coming to the PVGP about the "Sharks and Wings" party we are having on Saturday Evening, July 15th.
Quaker Steak and Lube, Cranberry.
1298 Freedom Rd, Cranberry Twp, PA 16066
Time - 6:00 pm until we get thrown out or decide to leave on our own.
We'll have the lot to the very right of the building reserved for our cars and the patio/bar just outside of that lot to gather.
Please don't expect fine dining. The food is pretty average. But, the company and cars will be Top Notch and there's cold beverages. I hope we get a big group!

Hey Gary, I'm glad you're on the mend; sorry I'll miss meeting you after all our online shenanigans.
I've been threatening to fly out to experience the PVGP, meet up with the 928 crowd, catch up with my brother who's a TR-4 nut and relive my misspent youth in Pittsburgh for years - and thanks to Ed's efforts, there really isn't a better time to do it. Tomorrow I drive to Spokane for the Parade, back on Tuesday, catch a plane Wednesday morning to the Steel City, meet up with my brother for the Triumph Countryside Tour out of Ligonier on Thursday, then it's 928s, 928s, 928s!
So, I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of yuns 928ers for the first time - well, a second time in the case of Nate who came to our get-together on Guemes Island in the PNW last October.
Plans are to stay at the Hilton GI/Cranberry probably Fri and Sat nights and dinner at the Quaker State on Saturday.
See you all in a week!

There is a guy in a 996 turbo driving up from Tampa. Reach out to your local PCA Club and ask is anyone is going. Time for a road trip!

GT quit on the way home from PCA breakfast... waiting for a tow. So, if I don't figure it out before Fri, I'll miss this one. Starting to feel a bit like Bertrand. Wish me luck.

I always say the earlier the better. You beat all the traffic coming in and you get the best spots. Plus you can be already settled in when everyone else starts rolling in. 9:00 - 9:30 would be best.
