My folks have an '04 Cadillac CTS with a bad engine control module. The dealer is having trouble getting the replacement part from GM and wants $1000 for the repair. It sounds to me like something that could be done for a couple hundred $$ in used parts and an hour in the driveway.

The ironic thing is that my Dad was an excellent mechanic in his younger days. I know if that car had a carburetor or mechanical fuel injection, he'd already have it on the road. He understands the problem, but using the internet to research the solution is the sticking point.

Does anyone know someone they'd trust their parents to?
