Alan: Thanks! I appreciate that. I have lightly researched the VW light conversion and will pay closer attention now. I will start sourcing three black VW light assemblies. I have read your thread on modifying the VW lights to accept 44mm festoon bulbs. I will do that as I have just ordered 44mm festoon LED bulbs.
Thanks!

The Deputy: Thanks! This may not be getting the driveline and brakes back together, but sometimes the little things are just as important to me.

928NOOBIE: Thanks! I am quite the Iron Maiden fan. Each of my vehicles has an Iron Maiden decal in its rear window.

Since this thread was referenced elsewhere - the wiring colors Seth quotes early in the thread are wrong (and do not match the wiring diagrams...) See what I wrote above

So again here: these are the correct colors:

Wiring Colors:

Roof & Doors Hatch
==============
Red Green
Brown Brown
Brown/White White

The practical effect of 'mislabeling' Brown & Brown/White OR White & Brown (hatch) is just that the switch works backwards from what you would expect (hardly obvious) - however if you actually swap the connection of Brown & Brown/White OR White & Brown (hatch) then the switched ground will short out to actual ground via the frame connection once the light is installed - and all your lights will stay on in either of the on switch positions.
