Turbo 928s?
Through all my years of trawling 928 sites and reading magazines, i've seen plety of examples of Supercharged 928s, but no turbo'd ones. Anyone know why? Has anyone ever done it?
Personally, i'm fascinated by the idea of getting a very cheap 928S manual, completely gutting it, rebuilding it and experimenting with turbochargers.

I have a friend that rode in a 928 test car at Porsche. He has done all sort of racing. He told me the turbos lived in the fenders where they blistered the paint. He also told me it was the only car that ever made him throw up from the Gs on the straits. We heard rumors of this car when I worked at the dealer back in the day. We were told if it ever made production it would have only 3.5 to 4.5 liters. Neat!

WOW, I hope to vomit from straightline Gs someday and make others do so as well.
Badger,
In this link there are described 2 turboed 928s that are common to the board.

I tell her, 'baby-girl I'm sorry you're feeling bad, but I had to test out this change I made'; but secretly in my thought-balloon the whole while I'm thinking, DAMN this car hauls ***!

Thanks for the info, fellas. I think its going to be a while into the future, but i'm kind of swing the seeds now if you understand. I've already ordered a book on turbocharges. Us Brits dont tend to mess about with our 928's much, so i'd never actualkly heard of it being done before.
I presume blown 928s can handle the extra power okay, ans still remain well mannered under normal conditions?

There is a Twin Turbo S4 here in the Pac NW.
928 Forum Magazine is hoping to feature the car in an upcoming issue. I spoke to the owner just last wednesday to secure a commitment to have the car dynoed for the story.
I have personally ridden in the car, as have others on the Magazine board, and it is truly exceptional.
I think the most amazing thing about this car is that is was built in the early 90's. Basically this builder had none of the resources we can luckily take for granted today, and put together this monster 928. The builder states that the twin turbo 928 was what he felt should have been the next logical evolution of the 928s4, and that Porsche was holding back when the GTS finally came out.
Much anticipation in getting the dynograph of this car.

Turbo 928's are rare. But they are out there. I have more trouble with vacuume lines and electrical problems. normal 928 stuff.. The turbo system itself has never given me an ounce of trouble. Knock on wood!

Hey SilverSFR,
Any chance of meeting up with the PacNW 928 Owner's group one of these days in Spokane?
We typically have two track days a year there, one in April and one in September. It would be great to see your turbo'd shark in action.

By the way, I still have not received my latest 928 Forum Magazine yet...

-is your car still running?
