I've been on Rennlist for about 3 years now, and I've had my 928 for just over 2 1/2 years, so I thought it was about time I introduced myself.
I have not had a 'hobby car' or week end driver for about 30 years, and while I was looking around I kind of stumbled into 928's. I had seen them in the past of course, but never thought of owning one.
So, after spending too much time on Rennlist and seeing some great write-ups, and joining the local Landshark group (Thanks jon928se and Hilton ɹəpun uʍop 'ʎəupʎs) I took the advice and bought the best example I could afford, an 87 S4 manual that had the 89 cluster installed by Porsche back in 1989.
The previous owner had spent a lot of money in his 2 years of ownership which included having the intake refreshed, cam belt/water pump, all synchros replaced in gearbox, air conditioning overhauled and the wheels re-anodised.
Although, 'all the maintenance was up to date', in the last 2 years I have replaced/repaired-
Fuel pump
Fuel gauge sender unit
In tank strainer
Lots of electrical work, including finding that the connections for the 89 digital cluster were just twisted together and covered with heat shrink within the loom. All soldered now and all gauges work correctly, including the fuel gauge.
Door supports
Carpet
Ball joint boots
Cam cover powder coating, timing chain pads, oil check valves.
Oil pressure sender and thermostat springs,
MAF
Cleaning and more cleaning.
Etc etc.....
The car is a hobby that I can take for a drive, and I have put 20,000 k's on it since buying, so it now has 255,000 k's. I picked up 2nd place in the local Porsche Club 'Daily Driver' section of concours last year and was 4 points off 3rd place in the open section for cars up to 1996 this year.
Anyhow, here's a couple of pictures to prove it has happened.
Nice example! Good to see another Aussie here. From the look of that engine bay, that the wheels were re-anodised, and the fact that you're in Sydney, makes me guess that Bruce Buchanan may have worked on your car ??
Thanks for all the kind comments.
Dave928S, I bought the car in Melbourne and drove it back to Sydney. The previous owner had called Bruce Buchanan for advice, but Bruce has never worked on it.
Kiwi'79, cheers bro', here are a couple of outside shots.
Nice Guards Red S4. Nice to see relatively higher mileage cars in such great condition. Very much like mine. Have owned in for 6 years and travelled 80,000kms in her and never let me down, Not a daily driver but quite a few long distance trips....exactly what these cars are meant for. My baby now has 251,000kms and just finished major service of WP. all belts incl. TB plus new coils, new (Beru) ignition leads, plugs, minor radiator repair and check. Just have the rear axles out to replace all CV boots - two badly torn and third just starting to tear. Continue to enjoy her. Love the steering wheel, BTW!
Thanks for all the kind comments.

250K km plus club. It shows you just how well these cars age when properly taken care of. I have about 119k American miles and am looking forward to adding another 100 k quickly.
Beautiful car, a credit to it's owner(s).
Congrats!
