Mirrors
Mounted the right side mirror today. Don't recall the name of these mirrors but they are tiny, real carbon, and weigh next to nothing. Surprisingly, they give a good view of what's behind, at least when the car isn't moving or running
Of course, I won't need mirrors, because I will already know the entire field of cars will be behind me

No worries. The Devore car was sold to me the way Maverick brought it to Bisi - a "mock up motor" which meant a tired and unusable 1982 block, some random 16v heads, and that's it.
As Jim pointed out, internet legend holds that Bud Hart and Bob Devore built an NA motor (16v) that pushed 700hp. We know now that it did put that out, but by accident in an overrev for a few seconds.
Still, according to the Excellence article, the car did put down somewhere reputed to be in the 500 range, so I don't doubt it was a beefy build.
That motor was not with the car when I bought it, and no trace of it has ever been seen, and no one seems to know where it is....
Which is why Carl is building me a 32 valver.
I don't really care for originality (i.e. numbers matching), but I'd like to have that supposedly hi-po motor....

I have no proof of any of this but my gut tells me the motor was pulled by Devek or possibly Red McClintock after Devore died. Red McClintock was actually on the title as well, so it was his car to do with as he pleased.

And now for something completely different
Waiting for parts - killed time by installing the Accusump accumulator tank. Accusump isn't true dry sump, but it is a way to regulate the flow of oil during hard cornering and prevent oil starvation. Dry sump would be better, but it is impossible to do in a 928 without having a huge nasty oil tank in the cockpit, which is one of the things POC absolutely DOES NOT allow.
So this is the next best thing.

Carl's Cross member
Also installed Carl's fancy 3 piece cross member. It is SO much easier to install than a normal cross member because it's really easy to slide the outside ends where they need to go.
I put everything in real loose, then bolt in the center section, cinching it tight, then tightening the rest of the bolts that join it to the frame, torquing it all down.
Overall very happy with this product.
Had the struts powdercoated, installed those.
Engine mounts are also in there....CARL - DO I HAVE THEM ON THE RIGHT DIRECTION? Instructions don't say which side the notch goes on.
Finally, installed the solid steering rack mounts. Even though the car had delrin mounts, this is one spot I felt delrin was not up to the task and thus I went aluminum.
