Default So I need a new windshield

Hi,
Saturday I did 30 kms of highway, enough for my windshield to be hurt by a stone .So I need a new windshield for my '92 GTS,green with upper dark green portion.
I have some brand choices: Sigla, pilkington, saint gobain , sekurit, ....
Do you know the original brand for first equipment?
I don't know if my car has the original one, and I'd like to get the original one for my car. Side Windows and rear Window are marked by Sigla, but I bought other cars with original Windows and different brand for windshield.
My Porsche center told me thay can assure me they can supply the original brand for my car.
Thank you.
Francesco

Francesco, Sigla is the correct manufacturer at least for USA cars. I am not sure whether the European windshields are the same-- PET shows the same part numbers but there are many different widshield variations.

For '90-95 (airbag) cars the correct windshield from the factory is 928-541-011-13, this is a windshield with the green top band (and a very light green tint), laminated, and no antenna in the glass.

There are two problems with this windshield from the factory. First, the list price is $1433 USD-- not sure about Euros.

The second problem is that Porsche will ship you the wrong windshield.

What happened is that they ran out of this no-antenna glass, and had a surplus of the '87-88 windshield with the antenna (928-541-016-06). So they took half of the stock of antenna-glass, changed the label and moved them to the no-antenna shelf. We learned this when we ordered a new windshield for our '93 GTS, attempting to keep it 100% original. Argghhh... This was July 2015 and I doubt if it has been fixed. "Just cut the wire pigtail off" they said, when we inquired. Sorry no, not for that price.

So if you do order the factory glass, be sure that you can inspect it before installation, and are able reject it if not correct.

We fitted a Sigla, the same except for the triangle-P Porsche parts logo. Much cheaper (around $400 USD, installed).

Here is a picture of the original GTS windshield, before replacement:

Thank you guys, I really did not know all this informations for a " simple" windshield.Iam just amazed ...

Found a Saint-Gobain/Sekurit one for330 euro, an original Sigla from Porsche will cost me about 600 euro.
It is difficult to decide for me.....

In my pet I seethat part number (green tinted with dark green upper part) is 92854101107.

Cannot find the part number with final 13.

Who installed it for you? What company did you use to source the glass? My '89 has the plastic film covered glass and it is covered with city stickers that will destroy the film once they are removed...

Here's a pic, it is listed in the current PET. This is the box label, however what is inside the box is a '87-88 windshield with the embedded wire antenna and pigtail-- which would be the 928-541-016-06. We are saving this for our '88 S4.

This was shipped from Altanta to the dealer, so I am not sure if this is just a USA-thing or came with that label from Germany. Maybe the "-13" part number was created when they decided to sell the antenna-windshields also for the later cars??

Current PET shows your 928-541-011-07 number ("Green top tint") superseded by 928-541-013-01 (also "green top tint") which is again superseded by 928-541-011-13 (also "green top tint") which is the windshield above, which is wrong as noted.

Your dealer may have old stock- which will hopefully be the correct no-antenna windshield-- and 600 Euro is certainly an old price. But the Sekurit would be equally as good and less expensive, if the official "Porsche" logo is not important.

Gabe (Windshield Expo) in Anaheim, he sourced the Sigla glass and installed it. This was our GTS in 2015. A few weeks ago we had the GT's windshield replaced, also by Gabe, at Sharktoberfest. This time he could only get "Pilkington" logo'ed windshields, good quality and works-- light shines right through (and no distortion).

ok. found current price for the windshield and it is above 1000 euro, part number 928 xxx xxx 13 , as Jim said, with integrated antenna.

I think I will get OEM windshiled from sekurit/saintGobain, for airbag cars, for 320 euro not fitted from a local parts retailer. I found there also a pair of front wiper blades with metal spoiler integrated, they look like this:

very rare to find here, I am very happy.
