Non-928: I have (had) 2 jetskis, one mixes its own oil (Kawasaki Jetski) and the other requires premixed (Yamaha Waverunner). I switched the fill tanks accidentally, and .... bye-bye 650cc Waverunner ... anyone have a spare Waverunner motor for me, or another Jetski I can buy? I love when I do idiotic things ... not.

Too bad you're on the left-coast. I have a Kawasaki 650 with a bad cylinder. I'd swap for Porsche parts...
To the point of the thread though... and I didn't read all of them... How about lowering a pickup off of jacks and having the jack scissors neatly and cleanly shearing an air supply hose in two, which lead to the hose whipping around to the wall and knocking over a shovel.... which promptly fell over and broke the glass out of the side view mirror of said truck!...

After driving my new-to-me 928 home, I decided to take her apart. Well, I disconnected the ground strap and proceeded. About an hour later, I put everything back together and turned the key to pull into the garage. Well, nothing happened; the engine did not make a sound. After puking in my mouth, soiling my pants, and spending 20 minutes trying to figure out what I had done, I remembered the ground strap!
What a sick feeling.
I guess that guy who said "A hundred mistakes are an education if you learn something from each of them." never had a 928, because 100 mistakes could cost a fortune. Luckily, my mistake was free.

I loosened the sump nut with bowl underneath to catch hot oil. Nothing came out. Loosened it a bit more and it was like striking oil! The gusher went a long way beyond the bowl. I was using one of those special oil change containers to catch the oil which has a smallish drain on top. I moved it to the gusher but the oil came out too fast to drain and overflowed. Still haven't cleaned all the oil off my driveway...
Next time I'll remove the oil filler cap. Understand this slows down the flow somewhat.

I now have one to add. I had a thread about my sunroof opening by itself and the windows not working recently. I ordered the relay box that goes under the drivers seat and as I tor into it tonight to replace the part, I found out why it stopped working. Seems a gallon of distilled water I was carrying for my leaking radiator punctured and filled the floor board area under the drivers seat. Sloshed a little into the controller and ZZZZkkkKKK!! Nothing. That was a costly mistake. Fixed now, crossing my fingers that I am done with issues for a while.

150 miles from home, car dies. Road toolkit woefully inadequate at the time, and my fuse/relay chart is AWOL. I figure it is the fuel pump relay, so start swapping. No progress. Well, what the heck, panic, I'm stuck so I'll hotwire the pump from the back.
OH, that's right, the pump on the '87 is under the tank. There is no in-tank pump.
I still don't have a working fuel gauge. MY sender is probably fried. I also still don't have a functioning tach. The problem was the wire routing for the new O2 sensor I put in was somewhat poor and it all melted - there's no obvious damage anywhere but when I plug in wire W23 from the CEL it shorts the ignition signal to ground and the car dies.

NON 928. I once lost u-joint caps and drive shaft on the freeway 200 miles from home (I replaced them recently but forgot to put retaining clips on) I found found a couple caps and clips from the old set in the junk pile in the bed of my truck that I was too lazy to throw out. repaired it all on the side of the freeway with improvised tools in 100 deg heat while my wife sat in the truck with the AC on oblivious to it all.

Installed a nice stereo in my opel gt that I had a long time ago. I was so excited to go cruise around that a forgot to close the passenger door. It bent all the way back to the front fender when it caught on the opening of the garage door as I zoomed backwards out of my parents garage.
After having a small cry in the driveway, I bent the door again to where I could slam it closed. When I did, the window shattered in.
Sold the car for $150 to a kid down the street.
