If you had a pile of 928 articles and stuff from over the years, would you keep, or?

Default If you had a pile of 928 articles and stuff from over the years, would you keep, or?

On a windy and cold afternoon, I began going through what should probably be our guest bedroom. Since I like cars more than guests, the room has become over the years, repository for car stuff. I have a bunch of magazines (like crates and crates), most of when I dreamt of owning various automobiles.

But now that I have the vehicles, do I need the articles, or does it add value, for example, at the time of eventual sale, to have all that "stuff" to perhaps go with the car?

I probably have a 10" tall stack of 928 related magazines, for example, some old models, and other stuff. A bunch of it is from early cars, which frankly, I don't have much interest in. This isn't an ad or offer to sell, but am interested in thoughts if having the "automobiiia" etc., for your 928 raises the value, or just clutters the sale or otherwise worthless.

Sounds like we'll be seeing you on an upcoming episode of Hoarders.

Dump it all - it's just stuff (most probably crap).

Chris - I thought it was cool that you had all the articles about the cars. I assume you are not going to toss the issues in which your cars are featured!!!! Factory twin turbo Vette comes to mind.

Have it scanned. Not expensive. Save/share it on a disk.

Keep them. Worth it for the future OB enthusiasts.

+1.

I kept all my magazines (Road & Track, Car and Driver, Motor Trend) from the 70's, 80's, and 90's that have articles about the 928.

Back then, the 928 was only a young man's dream.
Now, it's for real.

If I was buying a car that came with that kind of literature it would definitely be a plus for me. But I wouldn't pay a premium for it. Looks like it doesn't take up a lot of space and since it sounds like you are not at risk of opening up a B&B just hold on to them and pass it along to the next guy or gal.

Hmm...
I think I'd at least 'scan' it, if it didn't require very much time or effort....

I also save magazines and other stuff with 928 (and Mustang) content. I think it does add value, especially if you have a fairly original car, you can look at the pictures for reference. I am keeping these things, but I suppose some day my kids will just toss it all. My vote is save it, but maybe thin out the non relevant stuff.

Definitely the ones w/ my own cars featured are keepers. I have several magazines, show programs, and even a book, which featured several. But for the, say, 1982 928, I was thinking of sending something like that down the road.

Perhaps I am just not feeling like much of an archivist anymore. Not sure though, as I might have regrets...

One time I got the flu and put the scanner in bed and probably scanned at least 50 magazines (the pertinent articles), but that was for just one make/model I own. It was a good use of time, but not the same as reading the magazine or holding the articles in my hand.

When it comes to the volume of magazines though, it's probably 10-12 large boxes worth. And this of course, was after I tossed the Hemmings, which I previously had back to 1990.

I'd keep it. Still have my Car and Driver issues on the 90GT and 93GTS (comparison with the BMW 850i IIRC)

Room full of car stuff Randy. But of that he said he had a 10" stack of 928 related magazines. Now maybe your one of the few friends he lets sleep on the other crates and have first hand knowledge of their 928 goodies, but a 10" stack of magazines is not a storage issue.

Bruh.

It's the 10-12 large boxes, a few clear storage tubs, the banner, posters, car models (most still in boxes, and some in qtys. of 4 or 5 of the same one), bags of car event shirts, and on, and on... It's stuff dating back to the early 1980s, and in some rare instances, 1970s stuff.

When I didn't have the vehicles, I collected "stuff" and now that I have them, I play with those, and don't really refer back... It's quite a problem I suppose,
