Default Electromotive tuning

Hi Guys,

I'm proud to be a new owner of a 1980 928 Euro. The car I just bought has a 1983 4.7 euro S on, with steel wall from 928 motorsports that make a 4.9L.

The thing is that the car have a Electromotive Tec 3r on it, and I really dont have the ability to tune it. Does someone can help me with a tuning base map for wintec or something ?

Thanks for your help.

David

P.S : I'm near Montreal

I can help. But since it was tuned with the supercharger on it, and now the supercharger is gone - we have to start with knowing what injectors are in it now.

Are they the stock injectors, or did the PO change them to something else?

David -

Sent you a PM. We have never sold a Tec 3R system, and we have no record of your build. So I'm struggling to help you as i don't know who built it or how they tuned it. But like I said, I sent you a PM so we can figure this out.

I highly recommend you do both a compression and leak down test before you get too involved with "tuning"....

That's an excellent point. Start with Jim's suggestion to make sure the motor is sound first.

One watched a "technician" spend two-three hours trying to synchronize the carbs on a 356.....then he did a compression check only to find one cylinder with bent valves. Start with the basics.

Thanks guys, really appreciated. I'll give you a feed back when it's done.

Yes, I will check the compression for sure, but I’m pretty sure it is the electromotive system. I read my manual yesterday and when I put the key on,
the led light of my system goes red instead of green. So I will try to see if it’s a connection or something. It tell that it is probably that it,s
not receiving 12v from pin G5. I play with the fuse panel to find a short somewhere, so I probably disconnect something.

I’ll let you know.

Thanks

Did you contact Electromotive? I installed and tuned a Tec3R system on my '86.5, and Electromotive provided some support for that install. They might have some of the notes from that stored away somewhere. They should be able to provide you with a very basic startup file based on your engine setup. That will get you started. Unfortunately I don't have any tuning data left from that.

Cheers!

So, just want to do an update on the situation.

After all your advise, i send my car to a Porsche specialist to check the car and repair my fuse panel. So he had to rebuild the fuse panel and the front harness after the electric fan wire had completely burned till the panel.

Two week later,I mean right now, I take back the car from the shop to try it for the first time. Wowwww !! My first ride on my dream 928 ever. It make me forget the bill 😂

So to come back on the subject, engine is running good but to rich. When I slow down, and down shift, sometime the rpm drop under the idle and engine stop. It restart well and still turn good. I need some tips to know what change I need to do on my tuning.

Thanks

David

You may want to add a Wideband O2 sensor, if it doesn't already have one, that will make tuning the fuel mixture easier.

Then look at deceleration enrichments and settings for when you lift off the gas pedal.

Cheers!
