Caliper paint selection
I'm looking for this type of color preferably in a spray can
I'm planning on painting my 90 S4 calipers red but not sure what brand of paint would give me the red I'm looking for.

I used VHT caliper paint and clear.
Very happy with the result.
Not as resistant as powder coating but it does the job.
This is when I did them.
They're still nice but as few chips.

I'm starting this weekend on Brake R&R with drilled rotors and stainless steel lines. Still mulling over Caliper color, leaning towards Red or Yellow. Car is Black so I need to add some bling..

I use the VHT paints all the time, very happy with the long term results.

For later S4 and beyond, you'll need to source the stencils or decals for the Porsche lettering on the calipers. You'll likely want to do the lettering before the clear goes on.

Not sure what year they eliminated the raised PORSCHE on the calipers but you can razor blade the paint off of those before clearing them.

My 89 has raised letters. I used a fine tipped Q-tip coated with a dab of oil on the letters when I refreshed the black finish a couple of years ago so the paint wouldn't adhere. I finished up with a razor blade that left a shiny metallic finish. The white letters really look sharp on the Red caliper and I'm thinking Black letters if I go Yellow.
Good to hear VHT paints are quality.

Why limit yourself to red. Make it yours ! A reputable powdercoater will have a full array of colors to choose from. Proper stencils can be found with Roger, eBay, etc.02 T

Tony's calipers are tastefully and correctly configured. The crossover pipe and fittings, the bleeder screws, and the caliper through bolts are NOT painted from the factory. Many folks just mask the pistons and inner faces and go to town with the rattle cans. Reality includes some disassembly, particularly the SS wear plates at the ends, before blasting and finishing. If you want them "right".
If you plan on removing the through bolts, leave the caliper mounted on the car, heat it with whatever you have handy to soften the threadlocker, then use impact-rated Allen drivers, and a long breaker bar will get usually them loose. Porsche does not recommend splitting the calipers, but there's really no reason not to do it. Just pull the crossover pipe, and at least one of the screws holding each wear plate inside. The heat will help with those little button-head allen capscrews for the plates.

Bertrand, and Stratfor, thank you, thank you, thank you, for painting the rotor hats!!!!! I see so many cars (of all types, not just the 928 world) where the owner has beautiful wheels, painted calipers, and rusty arsed rotor hats.
On my GT I went red on the rotor hats, yellow on the calipers, and red on the Porsche lettering. I used Duplicolor ceramic engine paint. Did them on the car, so they were nowhere near as nice as some of the ones presented here.
