The funny thing about heating the aluminum around the bolt is the more heat the bolt gets, the harder it gets . Which in turn makes it harder to drill.For the most part, heat is you friend! However..., Ithink your real problem is not enough beer!

Between the two of us, we put a nice dent in a 30 pack! I sort of had a hang over this am = go figure.
Dry Ice, dunno bout that?. Couldn't hurt - but .....how would I apply it?. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

This job is turning into James Bond when its all about beer.
Drew a new small set of drill bits will finish the job. Forget about dremel bits. Just chew out the last 3 with a $20 set of drill bits. Don't matter forward or reverse its all about drilling now.
I'm pulling my pod in the morning for that job I mentioned.
There was plenty of beer not enuff sharp drill bits to complete.

Good Luck w/That Pod Job and thanks again for coming ova lst night. Put about 60 miles on the F3 today - not only are my arms sore but my *** as well. Gettin old .............

Seriously, I share your pain, from drilling, that is. I haven't seen these tensioner bolts present this much problem before. Must never have been off.

Hahahaha! Epic. I needed a laugh.
You know, I forgot some little details, like the machine tool training I have. I resharpen my drill bits as soon as they are dull, or I break them. It helps to know how to resharpen drill bits by hand. Otherwise I can't imagine having to buy new drills every time they go dull.
And then there's the rpm's. A small drill can require a higher speed than a regular drill can achieve. I've had to drill entire sections out of a tractor blade. And a broken bolt on same. A pneumatic angle drill was perfect. But, it can go too fast and ruin a drill in one second. So a regulator is needed. I don't know, you guys are in wild territory. I wish you luck, and give you a lot of credit for taking it on.
And I see it's a Euro. Please be nice. Dentistry is painful.

Excellent. That means you only have to worry about left and right. Definitely getting it level is difficult without a direct view from the front.
