Dexron VI OK in power steering?
I did some thread searching, but never really found anyone definitively saying that this stuff was OK for power steering....and one thing where it seemed the manufacturer was not recommending it? I needed some to do my high pressure hose, and that's what I ended up picking up at Pep Boys...but if it's a bad idea I can probably exchange it...

I think they actually say "Dexron," Dexron III superseded that, and in turn was superseded by Dexron VI. The thing is, if I understand things correctly, current Dexron III fluids aren't licensed, so I'm not sure there is any real enforcement of the original criteria.

Yeah, it does say that...I'm probably just paranoid about the statement (old, I think) about not using it in power steering applications.
It's probably a bit of a moot point, because I found the mostly-gone container of fluid I used when I replaced the reservoir and it's Dexron VI

GM doesn't say not to use it, but they do say (or did the last time I looked) that it wasn't approved for usage in power steering systems. I suspect that only means that they haven't tested it in every power steering system, so the lawyer weasels won't let the marketing weasels say that it is OK...

Yeah, that's the statement I saw...you're probably right about the reason for it.

I'm swapping my roman numerals...Didn't they go straight from III to VI? At any rate, I'm pretty sure I meant VI!
