Weren't you Ernest?

Probably yes but desided to answer anyway as I reasently had discussion with Finnish 928 owner about can it be done or not. It looks tight so others might wonder also.

I've seen pictures of both 5-series (E34) and 3-series (E30&E36) with those engines. The wildes one is a 316 Compact with a 850CSi driveline.. Crazy..
There is E30 2D in Finland with 750i V12 and auto box. Talk about nose heavy handling.

Sometime I try to be "witty", but I usually only make it about half way.
I honestly didn't think the cam covers had been taken off with the cross bar still on the car. I figured it must have been replaced after the cam covers were off. With that crankase oil diffuser on the right side I figure it's already enough of a PIA to not have to worry about the cross bar.

Wayne,
Is this for real? Will the motor fit an 85S, 5-speed without too much hassle?

Default 87-88 motor into an 85 S ?

Harvey: I can't answer that. You might ask Jim at 928 International what issues there might be. Things like engine and chassis wiring harness and brain box differences are likely to rear their ugly heads. Better if you found a later car that needed a motor.

I guess it depends how you define "too much hassle".
