I was wondering the same... the console and glove box lid are trashed but the dash leather hasn't even really started to shrink it appears.

It may have gotten redone at some point as the leather around the vents is just starting to shrink.

Anyone want to take this car off my hands? I dont think Im going to get to parting it out....other things have popped up. Got busy.

Details:

Still on the trailer. not touched it really.
looks like its not been registered (in Cali anyways) since 2003
there are fees owed to get it up to date in Cali
I dont have the title- I dont know who the current registered owner is
I have not tried to start it
Drivetrain looks totally complete. Even has jump post cover. Tons of good parts on it.
shows 75K on odo- and carfax shows that amount back in 2003. so it either did not drive at all since then, or the odo is broken
tires hold air, Rims are 15" 944 phone dials
Car rolls good, brakes work, clutch seems to work
no sunroof motor- roof was open a bit (hence water issues inside) but I got it closed
only 1 key
battery present but dead

How is it possible to sell or buy it, if you don't know who the owner is?

Well, the legal way is with a bonded title. Buyer will purchase a bond insuring that if the car is later claimed by another owner, the buyer returns the car to the owner, and the bond company makes good on the value of the car to the buyer, and then they go after the 'seller' who got the proceeds from a sale of the asset he/she didn't legally own.

I doubt that was done in this case, as it hasn't been through the DMV to pay the back registration fees due in CA. Would recommend this go out of state, and the new owner use the bonded title method before investing much money on the way to restoration.

Alas, my plans to save this 5-speed 928 have been dashed as my dry storage is drying up. While I haven't had much time for this project, I did source and mount a set of 16-inch 928 phone dials. I also collected a number of black interior pieces for the car, and it still has all of the parts it arrived with (sport seats, LSD, etc).

I'm looking for what I have in it, which is $600 in cash. The car is located in San Rafael, CA and will need to be picked up with a trailer or flatbed. The same terms Mark and I used apply here: Sold as is on a bill of sale. (If that causes you concern, as it did me, my national search on the VIN revealed no funny business. This car does not appear to have been stolen, wrecked, etc. It looks to me like it needed a repair and then languished.)

If interested, please PM me.
