"The school drop off" then and now.....same kids!?
In 1978 my dad brought home a brand new 928, I was 7.
It was his daily driver for the next 9 years. Which means that everyday that I was dropped off or picked up from school it was in a 928
That's 9 years of "thumbs up" and "your dad has a 928!!!???!!!"
Fast forward to today. I've had my own 928 for some time now, an espresso Braun Metallic 87 S4 (same relative color combo as my dad's mocha Braun car)
My 3yo started school two weeks back. Every morning we walk out to the garage and I ask her what car she wants to take to school. There are a dozen cool choices here and she , 100% of the time, chooses the 928.
Nearly every day I've received a fun and enthusiastic "thumbs up" from other parents.(okay.....dads mostly and one mom). All of them are roughly my same age so it dawned on me that these are the "same kids" that loved my dad's 928 back in the day

Maybe it's been told here before, but it's my 928 'school' story.
When my kids started driving I taught them on the 90GT as it's a stick and they needed to learn a stick, no matter that they get an auto in the future. My kids are both very trustworthy and would not cause any grief and to prove it, when my son got his license at 16, I told him to drive the bright red 928 90GT to high school. Plenty of his buddies had newer Mustangs, Pontiac, etc but no one had a Porsche except one girl with a Boxter auto trans.
We had 'the chat' about cars, and I told him; 'look, you have the fastest car in school - by far. There is never a need to PROVE yourself with the 928. Plus, the local cops will know, there goes that kid with the red 928 Porsche, so don't bother to push it or you'll get a ticket'. He never got a ticket, and was pretty respected by both students and faculty who couldn't believe that a 16YO was trusted with that type of car, and a stick shift no less!

My first response was going to be..."3 yr olds are going to school now"...and i'm glad they didn't impose such anarchy when I was that age...lol.
But, then I thought...she picked the 928...so this proves superior intelligents...and she belongs there already.

Very similar story in my household also. Dad was always dropping me off in some sort of exotic which led to both envy issues from the idiots and high 5's from most everyone else and I was able to drive some of them to school when I was in HS. I dropped my kid off in various 928's over a 9 year period and she always loved it. Gained her her fair share of good and bad attention also it's something she will always remember.
As said, enjoy it while you can, mines off to college now and those days are but a fond memory. The other day she sent me a picture of her driving her boss's Cayenne Turbo S, I was the envious one there.

When I was in HS, my dad's ride was a DC10. He never let me take it to school. His Opel Cadet? He made me take that to school. (Dad was never into cars. They just got him to and from the airport.)

DC-10. Hope he lived to tell the tale.
Opel Kadett (note the spelling) brings back memories. My GF drove one back in the day. not a bad little car except the cheap interior.

In highschool, I always drove my 81 to and from school. The car became notorious as nobody could figure out who owned it.
By the time I graduated HS about 10 people knew I was the driver and to the rest of the 3,000 student body, the driver remained a mystery.
I basically tried to avoid attention as much as possible. The 928 didn't help.
