This Schnell CF brace has been on my car for a long time (>5 years..) It still looks new.
I changed the mounting bolts from the stock allens for more surface area, and on the brace I added a sleeve around the bolt to reduce excessive play in the mount end to bar connection, with that done this works extremely well.

And I just covered mine in vinyl wrap.Yes, I know, not the best way to go, but before I spend thousands and thousands, on the car, I want it to run properly.
So, here is the photo, and I will finish my story in a few days, when my insurance co. settles with me. I really can't go into too much detail now.

I've been looking for one of those for a few years now. That one went quick.

Carbon fiber wrap!! that's the smartest thing ive ever seen on this list! great idea
there is NO performance difference of the stock bar vs anything fancy. but it sure looks good in
CF. so the wrap is the perfect mod here!

Did the wrap on mine a while back, lasts a little while and looks decent. Mine is peeling away now. I just can't see spending $250 for one of the real ones though.

yeah, makes no sense, unless it looks MUCH better and im sure the nice ones do, but for 150 bucks.... even on car with all the bolt ons, seems like a waste unless its a show car

Ive never seen this design of a brace, even OEM, much of a brace.
The load on the cross bar tube, is offset..and all it does is bend..it resists very little, and CF would be no better than whats there OEM. Just prettier.

Another vote for wrap..
Sean, I figured peeling would be an issue due to engine heat. on the bottom of the bar, I overlapped the wrap, and then covered it with a strip of thermal fabric tape that is used to make electrical repairs. It has not peeled since. You can also see that tape around the edges where the wrap meets the mounts.

It keeps the front square enough that the fenders don't rub the hood in the hardest corners. Add extreme cornering on really big sticky tires, or maybe a nice lateral 'glide' across the curb, and the load translates to compression on that brace. Except for high torsional load on tub while lifting just one corner of the car, the load on that brace on the average street-driven car is from the weight of the paint on it.
Perhaps a straight original brace, like a jump-post cover, is serious filter criteria when looking at cars in the market. Easy enough to check!

the 928 chassis is MUCH stiffer than folks seem to give it credit for
as you know, ive had a stock one and a CF one for many years. the stock one works just fine. no bending... slicks , 315 fronts and 335 rears.... new sticky race rubber, and NO bending!
