But thanks for posting.
Carl, I posted because several rennlist members asked me to.

Surely you have a few 928's laying around to practice on.

Or, is this just about making money .

I do it for the challenge.

Dins:

We are not competing, so you don't have to behave like this.

There is a huge difference between a one-of, on-car modification and manufacturing kits.
I have to design each part, test each part for fitment, when satisfied, reduce them to drawings, have the parts made, write the instructions so the end-user can install their own, and final test-fit the complete kit as shipped. I need repeatability and consistency from our parts, while the bring-me-your-car-and-I'll-put-it-in guy doesn't have to waste time with any of that. Of course its cheaper.

Its not about being first. It isn't often. And you and I are in entirely different markets. Didn't mean to step on your toes with my post (reading it over again, I don't think I did).

I don't need a test subject. Surely you have a few 928's laying around to practice on. I do.
Yes of course I do. But I do not have a 928 here with a LS/SBC in it. That's sort of the point of my post, isn't it?

I think Carl's "need" is being lost here. He doesn't want to put an LS engine in a 928. What he wants to do is provide a kit for people that already have an LS engine in their 928 using the Renegade kit. He needs the dimensions and measurements off a Renegade LS equipped 928 to accurately provide a GM 6 speed conversion kit.

Default LS conversion on a 928

Carl,

I have been thinking about a conversion to an LS for some time now. Perhaps we should talk. I have an 89 928 and would be willing to loan my car if we can work out the engine swap as well. I am in the Chicago area so I can drop it off and would be willing to discuss at length with you. Your thoughts?

Well, sine this thread was started, we have done several of these.

We have worked out a 6-speed kit behind a SBC, two of them behind LS1's, and one behind a Ford Coyote motor.

Give me a call, I can set you up.

Will this work with a 944? I want the entire drive train set up. C6 gearbox/TT/ Ls3 and am wondering if the dimensions are close enough to the 928 for this set up to work on my 944.

Wow, I didn't realize that anyone was doing anything with the Coyote engines. Cool.

I better clarify. My customer did the Coyote install, not me. I just did the T56 trans swap and made a TTube and driveshaft of the right length.

I understood it. You hear about swaps with the SBC all the time, and in recent times, the LS platform, but I had not heard of anyone using a Coyote motor.
