Please forgive the newbie questions,

The way I learn mechanically is to read the manual sections several times before tearing something apart. I've got the floating caliper on my brake system. The manual says after removing the pads to check the 20 degree piston positon using a piston guage. Is this a cheap and obtainable tool (haven't seen it on harbor freight or 928 Int.)?

Anyone lend me some experience?

I think you could technically just look at the piston, as it is shown in the pic in the book, and see if its correctly positioned. I don't think there is much reason to worry within a few degrees.

Any o ther opinions?

You're probably right, but I'm just soo retentive. Maybe its the German precision that makes me this way. I guess a piece of metal could be scored or marked with the 20 degree mark and be used in place of a "proper tool."

Don't know if these are proper names in english but I think creative use of water level and degree gauge is all it takes. I mean fluid and air buble inside class tube and plastic triangle or half circle with decrees marked in it's perimeter.
