what year car? oil in the intake is a common enough issue (blow by etc), but i have never seen so much get in the intake that it smoked out the exhaust. i would pull the plugs and check them.

A little history will help on your '85, as I usually will find about a 1/2 fluid ounce per side a year (in the side plenums).

1/2 pint is excessive and exactly where was the oil located?

Not sure if they fail all that often, but a missing or failed oil filler check valve would suck a crapload of oil into the intake.

It's in the end of the hose that connects to the base of the oil filler neck.

Over filling the sump with oil and/or long left hand turns can allow the PCV vents on the top of the RH cam cover to suck oil into the intake in quantities large enough to create thick smoke out the exhaust and even stall the engine.

Perhaps a more complete description of "I was Driving my car..." might give us some clues...

To be clear, it has to be a bitchin hard and long left turn...

OK I was driving it pretty hard..and making right turns.. also the engine temp went up to last mark before the red zone. I am presently waiting for the weather to cool down it is just too hot to try to work in 100 deg heat.
