Hmmm....
I've thought about a complete refresh of the fuse panel. Maybe that, and the pod circuit board? But the alert mentioned here is the ONLY PROBLEM ON THIS CAR - everything else functions properly thanks to effort, sweat, and Greg. The last time I did an electrical refresh as a matter of principal on an old car that worked pretty well, it took twice as much effort to fix the problems I introduced.

Is a puzzlement...

So here is the answer I have given pretty clearly several times already: The random warnings with the lights off AREN'T THE BULB CONTROLLER. So disabling it won't solve that issue. That seems to be the biggest gripe of the OP.

Yes it creates warnings when the lights are on - different issue - here connecting the wrong dots is ignoring the real root cause - which will still be there...

Maybe the bulb controller needs to be disabled if it can't be solved - but I don't know that appropriate remediation was done yet - still open questions on that about the rear/side markers & bulb check illumination...

Sometimes I read right past the question asked to try to see what's actually going on - I have no plans to stop doing that. However - on An '83 you remove Pins 6 & 8 from the bulb control module to disable all warnings (one for brake lamp (BK - pin 6), one for rear & rear/side markers (RE/WT pin 8)).

Do take the time to check a few more things first - very easy to do...

It will be very satisfying when you do get it fixed. Of course this is not a worrisome belt tension light, ABS warning or other critical function. Also the age of our cars promotes the practicality of clustered refreshes of related systems. Maybe you can eventually find time to refresh the CE panel, the tail light monitor module and the rear lamp sockets in the same project. Until then, if life has to move on, temporarily disable it like Alan mentioned.
