K2: Solved door lock insanity
I recall a man with a calm, reassuring voice telling me over the phone that my door locks really shouldn't act like that. Big guy. Beard. Knew the parts biz.
I've had the door panels off before but didn't get to adjusting the mechanisms. I finally went with an electrical solution and it was so easy. The door lock motors are now dead so I'll have to lock and unlock the two doors separately. Takes me back to the '70s. It'll be fine.
On my '80 and on the '81 I referenced, both door locks get power from the CE panel through connector block K on pin #2. There are two wires on that connector; one for each side. Other years are likely similar.
Pull the K block out and find the pin #2 connector.
A tiny screwdriver inserted in the channel on the face releases the connector.
Tape up the connector to be safe.
Done!
