Default Remove seat bolt

I tried search.
On my 89 the front passenger outside bolt stripped. Any suggestions?
I tried hammering in the Allen bit a little more no worky. Tried to put in a bigger Allen key no help. Tried to cut a slot and hammer a screw driver to make it move, nothing yet.

Drilling the top off is usually the easiest way to remove it, it will just fall out from underneath the seat base and then you can go to town with some pliers to get the bolt out.

Not much room to move down there. If you have access to a set of those extractors that go on the outside of bolt heads not a lot of options I can think of.

Drilling might be an option if you can get something in there. You will need to remove enough bolt to be able to remove the remnant with the threaded plate that sits under the rail.

Best of luck.

Try a hammer driver and if that doesn't work then drill the head off.

My seat bolts had red loctite on them, the key was high heat (and a slot cut for a big screwdriver)

The problem also is that you do not have a straight shot at the bolt. The edge of the seat gets in the way. So drilling or using a hammer driver is difficult.

I drilled one of mine out on my '88. Once the head was off, the remaining stem unscrewed from the reinforcing plate below the track. There was some minor damage to the rail since its very awkward to drill there. I replaced all of the bolts with the hardened ones sold by Robert Budd for the purpose.

I haven't done this (my seat bolts come out fine, but you have to move the seat to right positions for access) so don't know if you have room, but I always have success with stripped Allen bolts using irwin bolt extractors. May need to file couple of flats on bolt head first

Success at last. First I cut a deep slot in the head of the bolt.

Quite a bit of sawing

Used my air saw with a metal blade

Kept using a screw driver with a mini sledge to get the bolt to move. Saw a little, hit it with the sledge hammer on a screw driver, repeat.

Got the bolt out by just unscrewing it once it was loose.
