Steering wheel column adjustment help
Hi there,
I'm trying to repair my steering wheel so that it raises and lowers properly. I've looked at diagrams and been fiddling with it this afternoon. I just can't figure out how to get the spring to tension the handle correctly. Here are a few photos of what I'm trying to do. If someone has a photo of how it should be that would be helpful.
Thanks,
Dustin

There doesn't seem to be any spring. You move the handle down, clockwise, get it in the vertical position and the cluster is released. Move it to the desisted position, then push the lever back up.

I guess the problem is without any reference I don't know what it is supposed to look like. It seems like from the parts diagram I have it all but maybe I'm missing something. I do have that long spring that runs along the shaft but when I turn the handle it just pops out. I don't have any casing around the shaft.
From what I can tell it is supposed to be up and pointing to the passenger side in the locked position. And if I pull the handle down to relieve the spring tension then it goes up and down. Going up and down all works, but I can't get the handle to put tension on the spring mechanism so the result is the column just moves up and down and the handle won't stay up and in place.
