"87" S4 auto shift issue 2nd to 3rd.
So at the end of April bought my first 928. PO said that it had a steering issue and that it leaked a little oil. The car wasn't registered or insured so I was only able to drive it up and down the short driveway. Took a leap of faith and bought it. So I rebuilt the rack and put in Delrin bushings (OEM were not there, only metal sleeves) and changed the pan gasket with a silicone one. Put in new motor mounts. Also changed torsion bar bushings and drop links. Found some drips from the grate under the torque converter so I topped it off while idling in neutral. Recently I got it registered and insured, and took it for its first drive. Found that it shifted funny from 2nd to 3rd (Revs a little before engaging). Rest of the gears are fine. Also If I'm gentile with it while going from 2nd to 3rd it is fine most of the time. I have ordered a tranny kit from Roger and am going to change out the fluid and filter. Meanwhile I thought that Id ask for some advice from the knowledgeable people on this great forum.
