928 GT

The 89 GT also has rolled fenders and 17mm spacers in the rear and had club sport forged wheels. The rolled fenders, spacers and forged wheels were dropped from later GTs. The CS wheels were replaced with similar looking but cast D90 wheels.

I believe the rolled fenders continued with the 90-91GT, at least my 90 is rolled front and rear. Factory, not some Kibort baseball bat job. Agreed on your other points.

No, the fender liners started in '91. That said, most of them are literally falling apart by now - major crumbling and you can poke a hole through them with your finger. Jerry Feather is making hard shell replacements and I believe Roger Tyson can still get OEM replacements, the latter are reportedly of a revised, more durable material than the originals.

The primary purpose of the '91+ liners is noise reduction. I wonder if fiberglass liners would amplify noise rather than reduce it?

I've got a set of new factory liners for my '91 waiting to go in sometime in the next few weeks. $1250 for the set. OUCH! They are definitely a different material than the POS pieces that remained of the originals.

My Liners are $900 per set plus S&H to domestic addresses. Shipping overseas is really expensive, something like $600 or more, as I recall.
My Liners are made of ABS plastic and are designed to fit, contrary to what you find with those from the factory. Do a search and look at the pictures of the ones from the factory that some have already installed.
I haven't done any kind of testing, but the reports from the field from those who have installed my liners, indicate that the sound deadening ability of mine is at least as good as those from the factory.

Interesting discussion.
With regard to sound-deadning then, are the liners the MAIN and/or ONLY difference between the 89 and 90 vs. the 91 models?
I was actually under the impressions that there was additional sound deadening material under the carpet as well.
