Default Sheathed Ignition Wires

If you are buying wires, be sure that you get them with the proper insulating sheath. Some suppliers are shipping wires without it. Porsche deemed it necessary to add insulation on the first section of wire that runs from distributor over the cam covers. Not the best picture, but look closely at #15 and you can make out the extra sheath.

Steve - when did that practice start? I've not seen it on the pre-S4 cars.

Ed when we grabbed parts from Trevor's place, I took these Sheaths off the ignition wires along with the ends. I don't really know why I took these but I assume that these are the same as what Steve is describing and they were on a MY 85.

IIRC I have only seen the sheathing on 32v wire sets. Beru factory sets have them which is what we sell mostly.

Not sure if the wires on my 85 euro are orignal or not but I believe they are and they have some of the extra insulation on them. but it is an 85 even if 16 valve.

Ray you are correct as I just checked the sets of Beru wires for the 84 to 86 S2 cars and they have the extra insulation.
