Congratulations Bob and George - you guys have best of breed models for sure, well deserved and way to represent!
And yes, Bertrand needs to get his beauty into these competitions too!
All of the sharks look great. Cool to see the Porsche enthusiasts embracing the model and giving it well deserved respect.

A big congrats to George and Bob for there win in there respective category.
Well deserved guys.
Beautiful day yesterday on the golf course.
So many nice Porsche's...
It was real nice to have the chance to see old friends (from frenzy, SITM, Rennlist) and to have the chance to spend the day with you all.
Curt and his wife, Jim, Sue, Bob, George, Don, Anthony and his wife...
That day was just not long enough.
Let me tell you that the 928 was beautifully well represented in the Concours d'elegance with Bob's, George's and Jim's car.
Your cars were so well prepared.
From my side I'm back to work this morning.
But I wish to all of you that spend the week in Jay a great week.
Have fun!
Also, Anthony's 3.6 Turbo is simply beautiful.
And I'm not saying that because of it's real nice color!

Apologies for not paying attention to your class results, George. Also, I believe Jim and Sue got third place in presentation, on their first try; it must have taken some time to erase 2900 miles of bugs off your car.
The 928s got a lot of attention. Before the "Forty Years of Transaxle" talk, I thought to raise my headlights - they drew some smiles.
When I get home, I'll put a video together.

We just back from the concours awards banquet, with a couple of pics. Just for scale, there are something like 1100 cars registered this year, and around 2000 people. I think they seated about 800 tonight, the scale is boggling.
Here's Bob receiving first place in Preparation/Touring for 924/944/968/928:
"Preparation" is all about how the car presents, i.e. condition and cleanliness irrespective of age or mileage, and no demerits for different wheels, etc. "Touring" covers interior/exterior as well as engine and storage, but not chassis/suspension.
The "Preservation" classes on the other hand are all about originality in addition to presentation, and covers everything.
As mentioned, George's 1991 GT won first place for Preservation. That doesn't explain why the judges wanted the car on the floor of the event however, see this thread. There were only three concours cars on the floor for the event -- a 356, 911, and George's 928.
Well it turns out that George won another award, a special Judge's Award. I'm sorry that I couldn't get across the room for a pic, but here is a "screen shot":
Congratulations to both Bob and George! It's a huge amount of work, and those two cars really presented well at a major event.

Congrats to George for both the first place win in Preservation class and the huge honor he received last night at the awards dinner with the Honorary Judges Award. His 91 GT is a very special car.

I've seen both Bob's and George's cars (and Bertrand's) in person. These cars are in the stratosphere compared to most 928s...just awesome examples of the 928 and the dedication of the owners. I feel a broader message coming out of these results. Starting with inviting the 928s on to the green with the concours cars and all the positive comments, through to the 1st place finishes and Judges Choice award given to a 928...and Bob's and George's cars in the big tent. It seems, especially given the scale of the event, an important moment....after the decades the 928 was maligned and ignored.
