Well, at 9:28 this morning (actually 9:26, so close) the factory wire jimmy trick worked.
No wedge necessary, just push in on the lower back corner of the window. It doesn't quite go in where the manual makes you think.
Would probably never have gotten it without a partially dismantled parts car to practice on.

Remove a rear quarter window. Or have a glass guy do it.

Or use the hook thing.

One of my planned projects is to disconnect the power from the door locks. Mine activates when I lift the handle. I have spent ten years cursing it and planning to take the door panel off. That ain't happening.

That sounds like what mine did. It only did it the once, so far......

So will yours do that at unpleasant times like when the car is running?
Or is it just an annoyance that you go to get in the car and it locks on you?
Trying to decide how paranoid I should be in the future with this charmer.

I had a co worker in LA that stopped to use the toilet at a gas station in downtown LA and left the car running while he went to pee. Came back and the car had locked itself (still running ).

I had an old wooden coat hanger that had a very solid metal hanger hook. Perfect. I was in the car in 30 seconds.

Hmmm...looks like I won't be "needing" to purchase original radios for my two cars afterall.

I believe Alex has a 78 and a 84...

Heck, with this type of information...I may be selling them soon..."Brian's Original Radio Outlet Store"...has a nice ring to it, does it not? Now, just need Alex's address...and I'm in business.

Brian.

If you want to deactivate the locks, just put a normal 53 relay in place of the window relay. Easy peazy.

They are really easy to adjust though and getting the door panels off isn't too bad. I would just adjust them to get another system working.
